Term 3 has been a busy term for 2 Strong. We had the opportunity to visit some mainstream classes and learn all about other countries around the world for multicultural day. For Science Week we learnt about different lunar phases and made these with Mrs Edwards special home-made playdough recipe. We also made paper planes and had a chance to fly them in the playground with the other students. During Book Week Ms Ortega came to visit our room while we read some stories, including Dear Zoo. We dressed up as characters from this book for the Book Week Parade.
In English we are reading lots of different fairytales including ‘The Ugly Duckling’, ‘The Thee Little Pigs’ and ‘Hansel and Gretel’. We also enjoy learning our sight words and make them with playdough and sensory beanbags. We are learning our letters and sounds through Soundwaves and love singing the Soundwaves chant.
In Maths we have been investigating area and fractions. We have been placing leaves, counters and books on different surfaces to find out which surface is bigger. In fractions we are learning about halves and quarters. We made fairy bread and cut the bread into halves with a plastic knife.
